text color in MotD

Is there a way to change the font and color of the text in the MotD?

the MotD accepts RTF formatted text.
although, there is a MAC issue where it displays the RTF code instead of the rendered output.

MS Word and even Wordpad will save in RTF format, which, when viewed with a text editor looks like source code.
