Default Periodic Disconnects

Hello, was hoping someone could help me out. I'm running the latest client version (2.3.0) on a laptop running Windows XP. I connect to the internet wirelessly and am using a Plantronics usb headset.

Haven't changed anything recently to my setup but I am now getting periodic disconnects from the Ventrilo server/client. Time between disconnects varies (usually 10+ minutes between drops). Other users are not experiencing this problem on the server.

As an aside, I also regularly use a TS2 server and I experience no such disconnects from there.

Any suggestions to a fix? Thanks in advance.

I've been having the same problem. It didn't start until a few days ago. I've been running ventrilo for a few years now and this is the first problem I've had. I have changed no settings recently. I am running the lastest version and Windows XP.

I haven't noticed these disconnects in coorelation with anything happening in the channel. It disconnect when I talk, when other people are talking, or even if the channel is completely quiet.

I am having the same problem. Started Thursday. Before that, was using vent with WoW frequently. Now, I seem to get spots of packet loss, and random disconnects. I am not seeing any problems with WoW lag at the time vent acts up, and I am able to browse the web through it without any speed issues.

I've tried taking my router out of the equation, using a numeric IP instead of a domain.server style address, disabling virus protect, reinstalling vent... nothign seems to help.

Just out of curiosity, what server are others seeing this on? I'm having issues with voice2.cgservers.com.

When I play WoW it happens, but I just got through turning WoW off and I kept getting disconnect every couple minutes. It usually only happens about 5-10 min apart. It doesn't happen all the time though.

Default Is it only WoW?

Does this happen when you don't have WoW running?

Anyone suddenly having this issue with other games?

I don't know if it happens outside of WoW, cause I only use it when playing WoW. I will test that out tonight. Here's a crazy thing. I've been dropping a lot, every 5-10 mins for a few days now. The guy who hosts the server asked me to do a tracert and a ping 100 test to add to the service request ticket. While I was doing the ping test, I didn't drop once. I think Vent lagged up a few times, which it shows in the test, but I didn't drop.

It seems to happen mostly when I'm playing WoW, but thats because I'm using vent when I play. However, I turned WoW off and for the next 10-20 min it kept disconnecting until I finally just turned it off.

I've been having this same issue, along with several other guildies. The only thing between us that we have in common is that we all use SBC for our internet connection. I was told there was something about SBC and vent recently, but I'm still poking around for it.
