After NRGservers went under, I'm looking into a new vent host. After my experiences trying to track them down to serve them, I've developed a unique set of requirements for a new host.
1. Must have a presence within BC or assets. 2. Must not have a choice of venue clause that applies to someone in my jurisdiction to take any actions out of BC. 3. Must not have a self-modifying TOS. I don't want to enter into a legally questionable contract. 4. Must accept payments from a method other then paypal. (Cheque, Money Order, CC all work) 5. In case of a service cancellation caused by a license revocation, you are responsible for any refunds and any filing/etc fees incurred to get the refund. Basically, I want to make sure that if the host goes under, I can serve them and get a payment through the small claims court process. |

Wow, only a small list of demands.
If you're paying with a credit card you have the ability to do a charge back if you get screwed. Start here: http://www.ventrilo.com/hosting.php?byctry=can Though i looked at the list, i don't think any of those company has offices in Canada. Good luck! |

3-5 should be easy. 1 and 2 really just boil down to being Canadian.
Unfortunately, there's no listing of hosts by country, just by data center location. |
