does it lag if vent is the only app running?

what OS and soundcard are you using?
is the soundcard driver up to date? (might try re-installing and/or updating it anyway)

what's your upload bandwidth when it happens - http://www.speedtest.net/

perform a traceroute to the server and post the results:

start > run > cmd

tracert serverhostname(found in server setup)

in vent setup, what is the input device set to?

in vent setup/misc, try setting 'process priority=high'

I think I've figured out what is causing this.

Looking through all the threads of people that have the issue, I've seen one commonality. We all use Shaw Cable.

I don't know why this is happening, but I think we need to take this to Shaw Cable and figure it out.

I came to this forum to complain of the same problem you're having. My trace is fine, my drivers are fine, everything is fine... but I'm using Shaw Cable. Shaw's up to no good again, gg.
