Hi there, I was just wondering if it was at all possible for you guys to add the speex codec back into ventrilo 4? I have a friend who has a bad sound card and always preferred to use the speex codec for talking on vent before you guys updated it to 4 and got rid of the speex codec. I'd very much appreciate it if you could add the speex codec back into ventrilo in some manner, thanks.

I'm suprised that an older sound card doesn't work with the opus codec. I will inquire about speex but in the meantime you can try testing with a lower format of opus. have a sys-admin create a new channel and set that channels coded to upus using a lower rate, start with 8k mono

Glad to see someone else posted this considering it's my preferred codec. Definitely feel that adding Speex to Vent4 would be beneficial if it isn't too much trouble!

One of my major disappointments with the new ventrilo 4 update would have to be the lack of the speex codec. You guys should definitely add it back in for the people that have grown to love it over the years.

Please add Speex support. We really miss it. I'm clinging to an old V3 server for this reason. It's a pain in the ass. I hope you all listen to us!

I agree with Tomuz, the speex codec was great. There should be an option to choose it.

Yes, I'm also still using an old ventrilo 3 server just so I could still have access to the speex codec. However, I'd much prefer to enjoy all of the new features that come with ventrilo 4, hence my request to have the option of using speex returned to us. |

Hey,
While waiting for an update from Tomuz for the lower format of opus. I was wanting to ask if anyone else has mic distortion from their laptops when using the upus codec? In Mac and Windows OS' and just bought a new headset. I read that this codec works for older MacBook laptops. I have one from 2009. Cheers |

I always loved using the speex codec before the new update. Hell, I'm still using an older ventrilo 3.0.8 server with my friends because the new update got rid of it. If you check and see g@metrackers, you'd notice a lot of people still use ventrilo 3.0.8 instead of the new version. My recommendation is to just add the speex codec back into ventrilo 4 and make a lot of people happy.
