Yea I had this problem a while back. It runs out that mac laptops don't supply power to the sound input jack, so some mics won't work.

No, that is NOT the problem. The mic works fine with every other app, except Vent and WoW ingame chat. I can record sound with it. It works with TeamSpeak. It works with Skype. It is not a problem with the Mic, or the laptop, but with the application.

Default Logitech headset

I'm another one with the same problem with the headset and an iMac. I use to also be able to access voice chat in WoW, but can't get any sound or voice through that.

My settings have been all double checked - and I can hear other people through Ventro servers - but can't send voice.

Any help - suggestions? Any idea if I should just buy a new headset?

I just bought a wrap around clear chat style headset from Logitech and when I use ventrilo with it I either have the other people on the server with me hear me and I cannot hear them or I can hear them and they cannot hear me the headset is not USB it is got the two plugs one for the headphones and the other for the mic I have already uninstalled the program and re-installed the proper version of the program and it is still doing the same thing the computer I am using is a Asus brand laptop with Windows Vista Home Permium.... what do I need to do now?

Vadencial -

That headset may not work with your sound card - you should get a USB one to simplify things.

Also, this is the Mac forums so conversations will typically be Mac oriented. I suggest a quick post over in the Windows forums may provide you a better answer.

Across the board, USB headsets are the way to go. If you do NOT have a USB headset, i.e. you have one that plugs into the Mic & Headphone Jacks on your Mac, it will not work correctly.

Check the Macintosh Setup Guide which is stickied at the top of the Macintosh forums and let us know what doesn't match up.
