Speex downgrades windows?

Does the codex: speex lower the quality for a window's user? My guild leader is refusing to change the codex to speex for that reason, that everyone else's quality wen way down. Is this common or could it be something else?

can't a patch fix this problem so we can get on these servers i'd like to do some b s ing with my clan buddies

this is far from the truth. at comparable bitrates they are very similar in quality.

In my experience, at similar bitrates the Speex codec is superior to GSM, and most I've spoken with agree with that.
