Input sound won't go up

Ok, So I'm running Leopard and Ventrilo 3.0. I also am trying to use soundflower to play music into my vent. However, when I set my input device to soundflower, the input volume goes to min, and won't make any sound. I can turn the slider up, and press ok, but when I go back to check it its back to the min volume, and no sound will come from my computer until I switch back to my microphone. Any ideas what my problem is? Thanks much.

in system preferences
sound
select SoundFlower(2ch)
move the volume slider

you can not control the volume in applications with soundflower.
