Default Annoying Problem with Ventrilo(Mac)

I play world of warcraft on one of the newer 24" iMacs and my guild uses ventrilo that uses speex.

Lately I've been having this really annoying problem were I log on and when I press my press to talk key my green mic never turns green and no one can hear me. Also on the rare occasion that I can hear others they are to quiet to understand. I haven't changed my settings at all recently and I use an altec lansing headset which I hook up with a usb adaptor that came with the head set. I have the headset as both my input and output device, sense it is both a headset and mic.

Any solutions to this rather annoying problem would be greatly appreciated. And if you need more information, just ask.

Thanks.

ensure that mute mic is not checked at the bottom of ventrilo
can you test in setup?

It seems to be an issue where the computer is not recognizing that you are pushing the push-to-talk key when tabbed into the WoW game. I've been having the same problem myself and have spent about 1/2 an hour or so trying to find a work around.

If you bring Ventrilo to the foreground you have no issue using the push-to-talk key.

Additionally, this also seems to be an issue with any program not just WoW, I was able to achieve the same problem while typing this post in safari.

The Machine that I am having this same issue on is a new 24" iMac 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo running OS 10.5.1

Note of interest, on a 1.25 DP MDD running OS 10.4.11 this issue does not exist.

I've been having the same problem. It started out of the blue too cuz everything had been working fine for quite a while. I have "Enable assess for assistive devices" checked in System Preferences. In vent, when I go into the setup menu and click either Monitor or Test under the "Test with" box, I get a message saying "Start Failed." Never used to get that before either. I can hear people just fine though.

Again, I Have Related Issues.

Ventrilo Works Fine, Besides Me Not Being Able To Talk.
I Can HEar Everyone Fine. But I CAn't Speak. This Issues Occurs Both In-WoW And Out.

I've Tried Change The PTT Key, Changing The System Preferences, Re-Downloading Vent, Creating Another Alias, Changing Input/Output Options.....My Mutes Are Not Checked.

What kind of headset are you using?

Same problem for me. Only started happening once I upgraded to 10.5 and vent 3.0 (did both about the same time). Interestingly, a friend of mine has 10.4.11 and has not upgrade to 10.5 (but is using vent 3.0) and he has not had any trouble. Not sure if it is a 10.5 problem or a problem with the way vent 3.0 interacts with 10.5 but it is really annoying.

Again, this seems to be an intermittent problem. All the sudden people cannot hear me. The icon next to my name still turns green and it still says i'm xmiting but people cannot hear me. Closing and restarting vent does not solve the problem but a full restart usually does.

I'm using an altec lansing headset (with the usb converter) and it shows up as c-media usb headphone set for me in vent.

I hope that helps.
