that really sucks ass.

do you think that will happen? Is there any way one of us could make it happen?

cuz i just searched apple.com for "ventrilo" and not a damn thing came up. Do you think the vent staff is in touch with people from apple?

Also - (and please redirect me if this is a pain in the ass to explain) but if the vent server is a Gameservers' server, or one of their competitors', how do you change the codec to speex? Does the admin still have acess to the file where all you have to do is change two lines of code?

Yes. Anyone wanting GSM support sign up for a free ADC online account at developer.apple.com and then file an enhancement bug at bugreporter.apple.com.

File it as an enhancement.

Summary:
Please provide Windows-compatible GSM 6.10 compression and decompression support in the OS.

Steps to Reproduce:
N/A

Expected Results:
Windows-interoperable GSM 6.10 support

Actual Results:
N/A

Regression:
N/A

Notes:
Many Windows-based products supporting GSM 6.10 encoding / decoding. Program authors are not willing to implement their own GSM support just for the Macintosh as they get built-in support on Windows.

Nothing.

The only way you'll know is the day they announce its availability.

Since it would require a hefty payment to the patent holder, it's quite likely it would never happen, but at least someone will read the bug report and put some thought into why they don't support it.

Well if everyone on these forums did the same thing, we'd probably have a better shot. This codec thing is more of a problem than anything else for mac users, you guys should help out.
