Angry Mac update??

please oh please tell me someone is working on a mac client that can use gsm codec. It is so frustrating not beingable to use vent. Very few vent servers are set to speex.

not many people are comfortable in downloading a 'beta' version just so the few on macs can use it.

When is the mac full version coming out or a new pc version that isnt beta???

Please help? Shed some light. I did a poll on my WOW server and everyone on mac is also upset that this vent issue keeps coming up with their guilds and such.

We (mac users) need some support on this from you. Or at least have a workaround to deal with being able to run on the GSM codec.

Flagship has indicated the GSM problem would be solved in the next major release. However, I would not tell your guild that. We have no idea whether the next major release is going to be tomorrow, in a month, 6 months or a year. Telling your guild will simply cause them to tell you to wait for the next version.

Don't bother asking how long it's going to be. He's not going to say.

Then those people are misinformed. The beta is PRODUCTION QUALITY and is RECOMMENDED by the program's developer for anyone that needs to connect to a Speex-configured server.

BTW, here's a surefire way to get your guild to change.

Rent your own vent server and configure it for Speex. Suggest to your guild leadership that they try your server. If it's successful, they stay on your server and decommission the old one. I've not found many people who were adverse to the idea of someone else picking up the bill.

If you do that, just make sure that EVERY Windows user is on the beta version before you try it.

Seriuously? You answer is to rent my own server for the guild and payfor it. Ha!

There is a post on here about working on the full version like in 2005. Obviously this is not a priority to anyone (except mac users). Please just fix the software.

Look at all the posts about this!

This is not a minor problem. Yes there is a way to get it to work but it requires other people to reconfigure thier systems, sometimes hard to do.

Is being a participating member of the guild important or not? You have to decide. For me, being able to fully participate in a guild was well worth the cost of providing the server for the guild.

But, lots of people have convinced their guild to switch without funding the server.

Have you ever tried to learn to code for a completely foreign platform? It's no easy undertaking, believe me. The fact that Flagship didn't give up and say, "sorry Mac users" is a testament to him as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not minimizing your pain. I understand it - I've been through it. However, Flagship is well aware of the problem. He understands it, and he's working on it. In the interim, your choices are to wait, or to try to convince your guild to change to Speex.
