Mic Suggestions

So my guild is FINALLY going to be switching codecs. (I've been running vent on VPC, yuck.) anyway as a result, I'm looking for some suggestions on mics to purchase. I'd like sometime fairly economical, but that won't make me sound like I'm in a wind tunnel or something like that. If there's a previous thread with mic information, I couldn't find it. So gogo suggest!

Also, I dunno if there's some mics that won't work for Macs that work for PC's and such. Lemme know whats up, thanks!

All analog PC headsets will not work without a converter. USB headsets will work.

However, I recommend using a standard PC analog headset with a Griffin Technology iMic converter:

I use one with an Altec Lansing headset that I picked up at Best Buy.

Interesting. Why do you recommend an analog/converter setup over a straight USB headset? Cost? Quality?

FWIW, I use one of these [url]http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=10012[/url] (also picked-up at Best Buy ;-) and it works a treat with vent (when they have the server set up for Macs, that is).

Just curious =)

Because it's pretty common for a headset to get broken. You trip over the cord, you roll over the cord in a chair, etc. Using the converter allows you to use a wide selection of inexpensive headsets.

Ok, cool thanks. I'm gonna go look at headsets. As for USB ones, I've got one suggestion for Logitech, any other brand suggestions etc?

plantronics has a wide variety of usb. newegg carries them at a decent price. My DSP 50 is convertable from usb to analog.
