Unable to speak

I am currently paying for a ventrilo server for my guild in a game. The site I'm going through works just fine. My issue is only one person, who is using a mac, cannot speak on vent.

He's using a macbook pro and running bootcamp to windows 8. The ventrilo client is using Speex to allow usage with macs. I read that you need a specific mic in one thread and he's using the inbuilt mic (so should work?). All the set up is correct. When he presses the PTT the light shows up but no sound comes out, it's also green so not muted.

If you need any further information about his mac or set up or the ventrilo server let me know. If anyone has any ideas to fix it it would be greatly appreciated since having him able to verbally talk is needed in dungeons.
