Codecs problem

hi, i'm using ventrilo and i got a problem.
when i'm connecting to the server, a window appears telling me "failed to get encoder for specified codec"
Result: i can't use my mic !
when i try to change configuration to GSM 6.10, it says that mac client only support speex codec...

How can i get through that, is it a client or server problem ?
