I'm a new mac user, and I'm trying to connect to a server on ventrillo. My friends tell me that it's a windows server, and so I can connect, but I can't talk so hear anyone, and the only way I can hear or talk is if it was made with "teamspeex" originally. I'm a little confused. Is there any other way to talk or listen on a windows server without it being recreated? Can someone give me some brief tips or possiblly direct me to a more informative site? If you need more information on the situation, just let me know. Thanks!

the windows server needs to be configured to use the Speex codec. that is all (well restart the server after the codec change)

mjgraf-
Thank you for your help. How does one configure configure the server to use the Speex codec? Is there a site that you can direct me to? Does it cost more? How much trouble is it? Sorry for the pesky questions, and thanks for the help. |

Is it a server the user is running? Or one he's renting? If the latter, you change the codec either through the provider's web-based control panel, or by opening a ticket with their technical support department.
