Contacting Server on OS-X but connects fine on Windows?

Hi all. Interesting situation just occurred - our guild had a working Vent server. I had no trouble connecting on my Mac and on my Windows machines, both through a router.

The server admin just switched the settings from:

foo.bar.com
port 1234

to:

x.bar.com
port 1234

so only the domain prefix changed.

After plugging in the new setting, my Windows machine connected fine. I tried to change the setting on my OS-X machine (running Vent 3.0.4) and that Vent is stuck at trying to contact server.

Any suggestions?

can you ping the server using the domain name?
