Default Mouse locks up when setup, or test, or connect is clicked.

For those of you who experiance a slight 5-10 second lockup when you connect to a server, log off a server, or click setup, test or monitor please read:

First off, this may only apply to people with a USB Microphone.

If you suffer from the conditions above try this:

1) Turn computer on
2) Disconnect ALL USB devices EXCEPT your USB mouse.
3) Use mouse to Reboot your computer
4) Upon reboot, plug in your USB Microphone first (you should only have the mouse and microphone plugged in at this time)
5) Test Ventrilo by clicking 'Setup' or 'Connect'

If theres no lag or lockups then plug in your other USB devices one by one, always testing Ventrilo everytime you plug in a new USB device.

Hope this helps, because this was a simple solution I finally stumbled on after hours of driver updates and a couple reformats thinking my drivers and system files were corrupted.

I am severly disapointed that this is not stated in Ventrillo's FAQ's, at least I couldn't find any mention of it.

Is there any way to fix this? Because it is my logitech G11 keyboard that causes this for me.

Yes the latest drivers for the G11 keyboard are version 1.03 and I have those on cd and the ones on their site are the same version. I tried switching the keyboard to different USB slots. It sorta worked for a while but broke again... Any ideas???

I have the same problem with the G15 running all the latest drivers. Have tried disconnecting USB devices and reinstalling all software and Ventrilo still no luck.

Thanks for discovering this. I've had a G15 since the day it was released and never put two and two together on this. Setup button has been freezing temporarily since sometime in 2006 and never figured it out, except that on a fresh install of windows, it doesn't freeze. I think it probably has something to do with the G15 drivers and between the ones on the CD that came with it and the latest ones on the Logitech site, the result is the same. But the moment I pull the plug on my keyboard, the Setup button stops pausing my computer. Was there any update on this since the last poster? Thanks in advance.

I've been using the G15 on my main developement and game system since I started working on the support, and have upgraded it's drivers several times since then. Not once have I had this problem.

I just did a quick check of the source code and there is nothing in the Setup sequence that even touches the G15 drivers.

Note: I run the keyboard via USB and I have no other devices attached to the keyboards extra USB ports.

I suspect your problem is a hardware conflict between the keyboard (drivers) and possibly the sound card.

Do you have the problem if you start the ventrilo client but do NOT connect to a server and then click Setup?

I too am having a 20-30 second lag problem, I have a logitech G15 and have found that the problem disappears when I unplug and plug the keyboard back in, I am using a Belkin Flip USB KVM switch if this is also being used by anyone, I have tried enabling and disabling use direct sound for input and output, ive enabled and disabled everything in the global tab in setup, this problem seems to be on my vista SP1 machine with the above setup and the latest drivers, the secondary machine that the KVM switch is attached to has no problem, it is running XP SP3, if system specs are required let me know and I will post them to help trace this.
