I have found a solution, after reading lots of other posts, it was quite simple... turn computer on, disconnect keyboard, reconnect keyboard, and it was fixed. The keyboard they all seemed to have was a G15 (i have a g11, but still worked) i know you are using a notebook, just thought it may have an external keyboard.

do you have any Cyberlink programs currently installed?
Powercinema or Powerdvd, some videocards came with free software that was repackaged Cyberlink, if so uninstall them and try vent again
