I have a Lenovo all in one touchscreen computer with built in webcam and mic. I can connect to my guild's server, and they can hear me, but I can't hear them through my speakers. I consider myself fairly tech savvy, having been involved with computers for a long time. I use Win 7 64-bit, and I'll admit it does throw me sometimes, but I generally manage to figure it out. Any advice would be appreciated.

in vent setup/voice-binds-speech tabs, set the output device to enable 'use directsound' the set the name in the dropdown box to that of the onboard speakers.
check for this too: Is your system sound configured for 5.1 or 7.1? (XP - windows control-panel / sounds / click the ‘Advanced’ button in the ‘Speaker Settings’ section / speaker setup input box setting) (Vista/Win7 – windows control-panel / sounds / Playback / select speaker device / ‘Configure’ button / Audio Channels) If yes then: Goto Vent setup/voice-binds-speech tabs / SFX button / Directional / Add “Front Left & Right 5.1 (or 7.1)” |

Did all that, because I found the same advice in a similar thread, and still nothing. I ended up stealing my son's headset out of frustration. Now, on my boyfriend's Vent, we can hear him but he can't hear us. so we're thinking headset issue or something similar. He uses Windows XP 32 bit. I dunno what else to do but it's driving me crazy so I guess the headset will have to do for now.

I had a similar thing happen to me yesterday. I was talking to my golfing buddies on Ventrilo and their voices got quieter and quieter until they went silent, but I could see their icons turning green meaning they were still talking. They could hear me fine, but I couldn't hear them. I concluded that my onboard sound card had crapped out when I wasn't able to hear any sound on installed media players either (music) using headphones or speakers. Took me 50 minutes to take apart my old pc and install the SB Live pci card and get it configured to work after disabling the onboard audio drivers.

Hi I have the ventrilo 3.0.8 client I am running it using Windows 7 and the sound on my vent just stopped working. I checked the setup to make sure that nothing had changed, and i know that it isn't my speakers because I can still watch music videos on you tube and have the sound work. Any idea what I can do to fix this?
