Just recently i have been unable to connect to vent and i can't figure out why. I wake up one morning and i press Connect only to have it stop just before the point it usually connects to the server. If i press disconnect then it does make the set sound though. Have tried different User Names, different channels and reinstalling. Nothing worked. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong?

Having an issue myself, its not my system, because it works on other IPS, but the one im currentyl usign are a buncha smack tards - and they keep closing port 3784 - i get them to open it and vent started working. But since we cahnged our vent server - it hasnt - even though the isp tells me they have opened those port 3784.
29717 - before server change and worked with isp opening ports. 8067 - after server change and now doesnt work even though isp says port 3784 is open. No router, connected directly. its just stuck at Contacting Server. Anything i can do ? Also is there is a confirmed solution to this issue, please mail it to me aswell thnx in advance |

taicho - there is no confirmed solution as everyones network setup is unique.
make sure the server is running > http://ventrilo.com/status.php perform a tracert to the server: start > run > cmd tracert servername try the telnet test: start > run > cmd telnet servername port# (where servername={the server you want to connect to} and port#={port associated with that server} (ex: telnet 75.125.43.51 3784 or telnet www.myserver.com 3784 ) If telnet can't connect then vent won't either as telnet is a function of the tcp/ip stack which is a part of the operating system. if it can't make a tcp connection then something is preventing the connection on that specific port#. if you've eliminated all possibilities with your internal network then try contacting your ISP and have them try to telnet to the server to see if they can connect from their end. in your case telnet should look something like this: telnet {server ipaddress} 8067 |

Tried the tracert, thats working, server is up and working
The telnet test failed - also im using the ip that ive been given, not in numerics ( thinkin maybe thats what im supposed todo ) - dunno how to figure it out though. Also it failed when i tried to use it for www.myserver.com 3784 Telnet to my vent ip and port 8067 allthough did connect - Im assuming my ISPs filled with a buncha shitfferbrains and they havent opened port 3784. the www.myserver.com is just an example and won't work cause it doesn't exist.
you don't need port 3784 unless your trying to connect to a server that's configured to use that port. in the client server setup, did you put in the ipaddres you were given and port 8067 |

those are normal messages for a fresh install.
what's the window display before you try to connect to the server? ? MSG: xxx send me a private message with the ipaddress of your server. since you just got a new server did the ipaddress also change? |
