Server not writing to ventrilo_srv.usr

Running Ventrilo 3.0.3 server, and logged into the admin account with Ventrilo client 3.0.8.

Vent Server is on a Windows Server 2008 (32 bit) box.

If I go into the user editor section and add/remove/alter any current users, the changes stay while ventrilo_srv.exe is running, however the ventrilo_srv.usr file never gets written to.

If I stop the vent server and start it again, all those changes I make using the user editor have vanished (because ventrilo_srv.usr never got written to).

No, the ventrilo_srv.usr file is not in "read only" mode.

Any ideas/suggestions?

have you tried starting the server in 'run as admin' mode?

what are the folder permissions for the vent folder?

Yes, running the .exe in admin mode.

Permissions on the VentSrv folder are set to "SYSTEM" full control, and the logged on admin, full control.

What's odd is that if I add/change a user, the changes are not saved when I click the "UPDATE" button at all, however, if I stay logged in for about 15 to 30 minutes, the changes write to the .usr file. It's almost as if the server keeps the changes written in RAM, and then based on some sort of hard-coded cycle, writes them to the .usr file.

I'm not sure if that's what's going on or not.

Oh, the other thing that I thought may be the issue was that the VentSrv is in the "Program Files" folder. I took VentSrv and stuck it in the root of C. (C:\VentSrv). No difference.

i seem to recall another user couple years back with the same problem. i think it was either a 5 or 30 minutes before it would write the file.

Can an "Admin" or Vent guru confirm this? We are still experiencing this issue and is quite aggravating for our moderators. Thank you.

I've been trying to duplicate this on win7 but it always writes the file withing 1 minute. I found my server 2008 drive and will try to duplicate it there.

well i got the same result as the win7 in that it writes the file within 2 minutes. the server 2008 is setup in a very basic configuration.

have you tried starting the server in 'run as admin' mode?

is there a possibility that some sort of 'write caching' is enabled?
