getting HACKED by Text to Speech HELP!!

Recently my server has had a large number of unsolicited TTS floods .

Apparently users connect to server and flood the server with endless TTS dictation

the server will say "backslash square forward slash, backslash square forward slash" forever and ever. Banning the users only partly fixes the issue.

the hackers use routers to mask IP addresses and a full server restart is often needed to clear out the flood.

IS THERE A WAY TO PATCH THIS?? and how is it happening?

Best just to put a password on the server.

it doesnt solve the problem I want the server public. I want people to enjoy their gaming needs here and by and large most do. how do i fix the problem specifically mentioned?

He told you, password the server. At least until they stop and move on...

It's a bot that spams and you can't ban it due to the multiple IP's/proxy.

Just a clarification point, you are not being hacked. Having your server as a public server, you are actually allowing them to connect (since you are allowing anyone to connect).

The only way to stop unwanted people to join your server is to either ban them (which may be impossible in this case) or set a password on the server.

Protection from flooding is fairly simple... all you really need to do is add a ip flood protection option to Vent. Then it wouldn't matter if the person flooding is using proxies or not. (For example: If a user leaves the server and come in again to fast or multiple times per second or mili second the user is either kicked or ban instantly.) I'm not sure what Vent is coded in but I'm sure its possible to do this.
