Audio Error

A user on my network has the following PC specifications

SB Live 24 bit sound card
Pentium 4 2.7 Ghz 768 MB DDR Ram
Cable Connection

she just replaced the sound card to make sure this pc could handle vent.

I am able to hear her just fine in ventrilo.
She hears NO INPUT. I went on windows remote assistance and found ALL VENTRILO settings to be identical to mine in all setup windows. any suggestions?
nothing is muted
sound works perfect in all other aspects of computing except ventrilo INPUT

in setup under monitor, does the mic produce any values? has the mic been testing in antoher program or computer? set the mixer/mux/line properly??
