problems speaking

ok, so whenever i go on a server, i push my button to talk and it doesn't work, i have everything set-up, whats the problem?

do you get values when you monitor in setup?
the information you provided does not give us much to work with.

I have everything set up right, my codec is on speex, i have my push to talk hotkey enabled, outgoing chat is enabled but when I push my hotkey the server doesn't react, my icon stays red. I also can not hear other people even though their icon turns green. When I do a test, the hotkey works and I come through fine.

Your codec is set to Speex? You don't set the codec, the server does.

whydidibuyamac,
ensure that mute mic and mute sound is not checked at the bottom of ventrilo. also ensure that the server is running speex. did you get a warning that the server is using GSM when you connected?

Yeah you were right, the server codec is set for gm so that explains that, I feel a little silly. Do you know when there is going to be a ventrillo for mac that will support codecs other than speex?

how do you set a vent server to the speex codec?

If it's a hosted server, you generally change it in the web-based control panel. If it's a personal server, you change the VoiceCodec and VoiceFormat entries in ventrilo_srv.ini and restart the server.

I recommend:

VoiceCodec = 3
VoiceFormat = 20
