Hello have been searching to forums and haven't seen anything that quiet matches my problem.
I just built a new computer, I decided to upgrade to Win7. Now randomly regardless of what I am doing, the PTT key will turn off and I have to go back into setup and hit ok again for it to work. I can be doing nothing just looking and ventrilo and it still will turn off on me in about 30-60 seconds. It was doing this to me before in XP also but after extended periods of time 30~+ minutes. I'm using a P2 compaq keyboard, is there an issue with P2 keyboards? Should I get a USB one? It is the only thing I can think of left that would cause this on a fresh Windows install with new hardware. Or it might be directx. I have UAC disabled and tried running in many different comparability modes, none of that seemed to work. |

It's weird, the button won't turn green any more once it has done it. But if it cuts out in the middle of me talking the button will stay lit green though nothing I say goes through, and I'm not 100% sure I can even hear people during this.
And nothing in my vent log error book should've mentioned that |

I am having the exact same problem for XP. PTT will work for some time, then after it stops the first time, it quits out more and more frequently. I haven't changed my setup at all for a long time and it just started doing it. I use capslock as my bind. It acts as if capslock becomes disabled even though it works just fine.
I use ventrilo when I play games, specifically with WoW is when I noticed the problem. I play in windowed mode so I can see when ventrilo stops working. The icon will turn green when talking and if it cuts out in the middle of me speaking, it will stay lit until I go into setup and hit ok. |

@johnbooth
if your keyboard requires a driver make sure it's up to date try re-installing DircectX - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en windows control-panel / accessibility options / keyboard tab / disable all options in vent setup, try the different combinations of 'use directinput to detect' and 'discard hotkey' or, rt-clik in vent window / misc / GUI ignore key |

Thanks Prog-Rocker. I tried installing the newest DirectX redist. and setting the GUI ignore key. Never would of thought of the DirectX install, but that seemed to be it.
