No one can hear me

Ok so i finally get a computer that i can game more then casually on and i go to use vent to talk with some guild mates, i set everything up tested my mic and i could hear what i said but when i went to talk to them they hear nothing except maybe a little static. I'm using windows 8.1 and my drivers are all up to date last i checked, can someone please help me

in setup, try setting the device and use directsound. also reset the amplifiers to zero.
