The majority of the time my latency seems fine, up until I queue my mic, then my ping jumps extremely high. The weird thing is that I can still hear everyone else fine, but they can barely make out a word I am saying.

in windows sound properties for the mic, in the advanced tab try testing with different default mode settings, both lower and higher than what is currently set.

Strangely enough, 7/28/2011 isn't the most recent driver that I installed. The most recent update for my driver, that I installed, was on 8/17/2011. For some reason it still shows as 7/28/2011 when the update was once again performed. After reupdating the driver, the problem persisted. I decided to roll back to the previous driver (7/28/2011), but nothing changed. The thing is, the problem did in fact start exactly on 8/17/2011.

When on both Ventrilo and World of Warcraft, my CPU usage fluctuates anywhere from 30-65%,

I should also add that at first, my CPU usage was constantly at 100%, due to a CPU hogging program. After disabling this program and resetting the computer, my mic seemed much better at first. Rarely cut out at all. But, the problem is back to normal and still persists.

It is definitely a fact that whenever my microphone is queued, the ping shoots up. The longer I hold it in, the higher the ping gets over time (ex. 49>500>1000>1600>5000>20000>etc), until I eventually get disconnected from speaking for too long.

Also to add, the exact same thing is happening on my other computer as well! Same connection. Based on this, I am assuming there is a good chance that it is my ISP (Bell Canada)?

just for testing, is it possible to hook the pc directly to the modem (if it's separate from the router), or to configure the router to put your pc into the DMZ section in order to bypass any router protocols?
