Default I have all sounds except when people talk.

I have every sound in vent other than when I join a new channel, someone leaves a channel, and I can't hear when people talk. they can hear me. I don't know what's wrong. I tried reinstalling several times, hoping it might clear my settings and put them back to default, but they are saved through uninstalls, so I can't figure out if it's a problem with my settings, or with the program. could someone help me figure out how to return my settings to default, or help me figure out what might be wrong with my program? has anyone else had this problem?

when they speak is the icon green or yellow?
if you're running the new version 3 client has the server admin set your acct to 'recv broadcast streams' ?

I am also having this same problem. The icons are always green, I am even an admin on most of the servers that I use and just yesterday (12/3) I was unable to hear what other people say. They tell me that they can hear me, but I am unable to hear them.

I can hear pages from other players, but I do not hear when I enter channels or any voices. Could this be a firewall issue?

Have also tried restarting/installing, I dont think its a software issue anymore. Any thoughts?

Im running Windows Vista (yeayea, my first mistake) with a Linksys Wireless router.

the icons are green. I'm running XP with SP 2. wired internet. like Red, it only started yesterday (monday) and was working fine on sunday. I don't know what the problem is. sunday works fine, then monday, I got nothing. I don't think it's a firewall issue, either since I set vent as an exception in XP.

i am having a similar issue, or my friend is.

he recently reinstall his computer, he took a screen shot of his vent settings before he reformat, now that he reistall windows/update new driver etc, he used the exact same settings, the problem is:

he can not hear anyone talk, BUT he can hear the welcome message from vent and changing channel, and we can also hear him... so we have 4-5 people walk him through with their own method of fixing... nothing, things like reinstalling vent, driver, checking every option in vent, check device manager, and check sound and audio properties has all been done. and help would be great!
edit1: I ensured that mute sound is NOT checked at the bottom of ventrilo!
edit2: dvd/tv/game all have sound.

thank you

Asp.

blight - is the 'mute sound' box checked at the bottom of the main screen?
did you make any changes in vent setup to the output device?

Okay, I am having the same issue.

I am the owner and admin of my server. No settings have changed from last night to today.

I can be heard, when I speak.

I can hear the welcome note, and all sounds from the setup page.

I cannot hear anyone else speak, even other admin, even though their mic's lights are green. I also cannot heat other people (or myself) enter/leave the server or channel.

Mute is not checked.

No new mic or updated drivers from last night to today.

I can hear and speak just fine in all other voice chat formats that I currently use.

Vent is set as an admit progrm on my comp, I run Vista, and have never had an issue with vent before.

Any ideas what happened?

Vervain and my problem are identical. I changed not a thing, and lost the ability to hear people in a 2 hour span. I dont understand what happened.
