Connecting to Server hang

Have this issue on a linux 3.0.6 server, I'm using win64 3.0.5, Ventrilo does not connect despite seeing all info in server browser.
I am able to connect to all other Ventrilo servers tried, including both win and linux 3.0.6 based.

the client should provide an error message. what is this message?
