Cannot Configure Router

hi

i'm behind a router, and i cannot configure the router. i'm stuck with default settings for a typical home router.

Clients cannot connect to default port 3784.

Does this mean i cannot run Ventrilo Server?
or, will it work if set server to listen on port 80 or 8080?

is there a reason you're unable to access the router to configure it?

vent server also needs ports 3784 and 6100 udp so you need to have access to the router for configuration to allow incoming connections.

Which security protocol is most beneficial for setting up a router. Should i go for IPSec or PPTP?
