couple of my friends and i use a pub vent server for gaming since I dont have my own server anymore. the pub server has a bunch of channels, some with a limit of 2-3 people and others that have 10 or unlimited slots. we usually end up using a 10 slot (if available) or unlimited chan (as a side note, these meant for gaming, we arent trying to take over chatroom type chans) because we'll have a 5+ person team going... problem happens when trolling 12 year olds join the chan and use soundboards, or play music really loud, or in general try to piss us off. muting them individually means tabbing out of the game, muting, and tabbing back into the game which can take about 10 seconds, which is forever in a lot of games.
to get to my question then, is there a way to set up vent so that the default mode for users is muted? that way we could just unmute each other, and not be able to hear anyone who joined trying to troll. alternatively, is there a way to set vent so that people joining the chan will be automatically muted, unless i specifically unmute them? appreciate any help |

you will need to have a server admin assign you (and/or team members) 'channel admin' permissions for a specific channel. from there you can set the 'voice mode' of the channel to muted, wherein anyone who enters is auto muted until the channel admin unmutes them. (rt-clik on channel name > channel admin > edit/info)

thanks for the response.
unfortunately I doubt that will be possible, because as i said, this is a public server and I dont know if server admins (who dont know me or my friends) would be willing to give us chan admin. what im hoping is that theres some way i can have my vent client setup to mute (mute just for me, not for everyone else in the channel) people in the channel / everyone on the server automatically - same as if i went down the list of names, right clicked and hit mute for each user (which i can do without being a chan admin). if each person in my group did that, and we just unmuted each other, this would fix the problem. sorry, probably didnt phrase that too well in my original post. it *seems* to me like it should be easy to do, after all the basic idea is just to make the default setting for my client that people should be muted instead of not muted -- but I don't know if theres a way to do this w/o having admin. |

Hi folks, So I need to inquire as to whether there's any likelihood to naturally debilitate somebody's mic when he join a conflict channel, I made a channel for a music bot, and when individuals join that channel, their mic's gets incapacitated when they go along with it, so thusly, just the music bot is permitted to stream the music. Is there any likelihood to do this? Much appreciated!
