Unhappy Step by Step Server Setup Help ?

I read the thread of Wadesworld but i cant understand it good my english is not so good.

so can any one simply setuped a server on his own explain the way step by step of how doing it slowly please ?

Please say you're working on a Vent Wiki, prog - that would serve as a client/server manual way better than a forum ever could ;-)

Good stuff! The vent on-line documentation will benefit massively from a Wiki I reckon so top marks and kudos for taking the project on board (that is if you hadn't been mulling it over previously). Very good guide for the server set-up too.

I apologise for thread hijacking, just realised my lack of etiquette.

Default thanx but still

thanx for the easy setup guide

i succesfuly started a server but some stuff are wronge or i dunno

check this :-


Start>all programs>ventsrv>service>install

it runs a dos window and do this :-

maininstall<>: Failed to creat service.



Start>all programs>ventsrv>Ventrilo Server

it runs a dos window and at the end does that :-

error: unable to bind to TCP socket.


and when i change the config from the .INI file it doesnt apply

that error indicates that either aonther copy of the vent server is already running or another program has port 3784 in use. open taskmanager/processes tab and look for mutilple copies of vent and then rt-clik end them. restart the vent server program.

Thumbs up thanx and every thing is going smothly and at the end of the road i find this :-

my last thing witch i cant find out is to put my free server on a stable ip - static ip - dns ... what ever

i dont know how to do that

my ip address changes automaticly every day

so i want somthing stable
