@taelsin

how does the mic sound when using the vent 'test' button? clik on test, push ptt, talk, release ptt, listen to playback

in windows sound properties for the built-in mic, disable all effects

also disable all other recording devices

in vent setup, try enabling/disabling 'use directsound' on the input device then set the name in the box to the built-in mic

Tried everything you told me to and I got the same results. I do not have the "built in microphone" option however. I tested the hardware from the control panel and my voice was still distorted, however when I looked at the Skype options, my input audio device was labeled as "Cirrus HD audio" or something to that effect which is the same thing as Vent.

yep, if it sounds bad there it's going to sound bad in vent too.

since you're running win XP, you can try re-installing windows DirectX

in vent setup, clik the monitor button then talk. what's the average value of numbers in the box?

is the outbound amplifier set to 0

just to test, can you try un-installing skype then reboot and test. i recall a couple other posters having problems when skype was installed.

also check the windows mic properties for any effects that can be disabled

I know what the problem is (I think) it has to do with the sound drivers on the computer. I had a similar issue with graphics. It has to do with Windows XP and Apple boot camp. They only support windows 7 now so drivers are no longer supported for XP. It's very complicated and I dont fully understand it, but essentially XP drivers must now be manually installed.

So I checked my sound drivers list and this is what I got.

ATI High Definition Audio Device
Audio Codecs
Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 18)
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs

Which one should I update for Vent?
