Plz help

I bought a brand new hp. It has Norton Internet security the newest one installed on it. What do I need to turn on and or off to allow vent to work. Everyone I know can connect to my server except me. Just says MSG:Contacting Server....thats it never changes or does nething plz some 1 help me fix this issue thank you.
