Why not make Speex default?

The topic pretty much says it all

why not make speex, not GSM, the default codec for all servers so this problem with mac users doesn't come up? If they are equivalent quality, whats the problem with this?

I agree, most server admins don't even bother checking what codec it is when they get a new Ventrilo server (a lot of them are quite noobish in case of technology and such, actually), they don't really care what codec it is as long as it works for them.
