Hi Guys,
I've been using Ventrilo for a short time now. But since a week ago I keep getting this message when I try to log in on the vent server. MSG: Synchronizing. I have tried to re-install ventrilo and checked all info to log in and it's all good. but still I can't get online. Anybody who knows where to look or had this problem before? Am using Ventrilo 3.0.4. and am on a Mac OSX snowleopard system. (let me know if you need more specific info) Thanks in advance! |

this means that port 6100 UDP is being blocked by a firewall.

Did you change servers, or change any information what-so-ever since you logged on last?
Is it possible the vent host information changed, such as the address, port or password? Check with whoever hosts your ventrilo server and verify the information you have entered is correct. Let us know. |

I've been having the same problem with vent for about 2 years now.. I've recently upgraded from a PC to a Mac, and get the same problem. Though I'm sure it's my router, however, I have pretty basic knowledge as to working with computers, especially Mac's, seeing as I am a new user.
Could someone please lay out how to fix this problem in a step-by-step format, with enough explanation so that a two year old could do it? Thanks. :P |

start with this:
When Ventrilo gets stuck on synchronizing this usually indicates that something is blocking the connection on Port 6100 UDP. This can be caused by firewall/virus applications on the pc or the router’s firewall. As a test, try temporarily disabling the firewall on the pc and/or router to see if Vent can connect. Consult your product’s documentation and/or website for instructions. (Some users have reported that power resetting the router while vent is synchronizing allows the data to pass thru) Exit all Vents In all firewall/virus apps, remove all references to vent in all sections and then either manually re-add it to all ‘allowed’ list or restart vent and let the firewall add it back in. |
