I've read around through most of the Ventrilo 3.0 related threads, and I have some lingering questions.
I did read the announcement about the new features. However, could Flagship possibly provide us with some screenshots and some written content that will help give Administrators a heads-up? The reason I ask this is because... on Wednesday, things are going to switch rather rapidly across the global Ventrilo front... and I think it would be helpful (especially for those of us who are Admins on high-traffic Ventrilo servers) to get some idea of what to expect? Particularly, things relating to the UAR, Guest Accounts & Restrictions, and User Authorization Channels? Getting some info to us ahead of time (and I know there'll be a changelog & documentation available on Wednesday) will be helpful in order to ensure a smooth transition - especially for those of us who, as I said earlier, are Administrators of very large high-traffic servers. If this is out of the question, I guess I can understand. Although, what I'm asking is only reasonable... |

You do not have to switch to 3.0 immediately....
well then again I guess that is based upon who your server provider is. We are allowing 10 days for our customers to make the transition to 3.0 This will allow for those who have to admin large servers the time to get used to the new program and then transition over their users to 3.0 For instance, you can create a separate folder to install 3.0 in for the next few days. Use or order a 3.0 server and then get familiar with it, once you feel you are familiar than you can request your members that use your server to download the program as well and make the transition. To anyone who reads this and is one of our customers, we are giving you 10 days to make the platform upgrade. You will see in your control panel a link where you can INSTANTLY upgrade your server at YOUR convenience. |

Will this update have some sort of option to set so that people cannot connect/disconnect spam a server?

Well my server is hosted with TypeFrag.com and prior to making this thread, I contacted them to ask when & if they'll be upgrading the servers. They said that we'll be able to upgrade via our control panel at our convenience but that there will be no mandatory date, at least none will be specified for quite a while. I still would like to get a heads up, since I'll be somewhat busy towards the later half of this week - it's not really a big deal but... I've always felt that Flagship Industries could do a far better job of providing us with some good information - but their work on Ventrilo is unsurpassable, excellent software. So, patience has always been one of my virtues when it comes to dealing with Ventrilo.

I know my host (VentriloServers.biz) is doing a full upgrade tomorrow morning at 9AM central time. So I'm looking forward to 3.0 myself.

Will accounts and such need to be set back up or is the database for that going to migrate over in the upgrade?
Will we get a better messaging system (teamspeak) than we have presently? Will we get an easier way to query the server instance for status on a website? Looking very forward to this release and hope it goes as smoothly as 2.3.1 has gone to date. =) |
