Server passwords??

hi
ive been having some difficulties with random people logging in
is there a way to create a password for the whole server rather than just per channel, cos when i try to give passwords to users and make them non guests we cant hear each other even tho i give every1 all the same settings as i have! plz help me

using your hosting company's control-panel for vent, set Auth=1 and Password=

then restart the server.
