When I am playing WOW I can be playing and in vent with 30+ people, with 0 issues. That is.. until I start talking; when I start transmitting my ping will always spike, sometimes it will time me out of vent. I am confused because I have no other issues with my internet connection, this is the only time I have problems with latency. Never does my ping spike in games.
I have tried uninstalling vent from my computer and reinstalling but all the settings are exactly the same as before, which is possibly a problem? would love some help on this one! ![]() edit: I should note that a few months ago, I never had issues transmitting on vent. I am unsure if I changed some settings/ or downloaded a newer version of vent which caused this problem to begin. maybe a combination of both ;/ Last edited by darkyttles; 07-31-2008 at 05:31 PM. |

it may be a problem with your sound card drivers, they may have been damaged due to a virus, or a program that it doesnt like, maybe your computer doesnt like vent, but that happend 2 me, my sound card drivers were really screwed up and when i went on vent it gave me some message saying that direct sound was screwing up, so i re-installed my sound drivers, and it fixed the problem that may be the same problem you are having, otherwize im not sure what it could be...

people can hear me fine, and i do not receive an error message or anything, my ping just shoots up and eventually they say 'you're lagging' and can no longer hear me, then i time out of vent.

what is your upload bandwidth? www.speedtest.net
make sure your soundcard and lan card drivers are up to date. in vent setup/misc, try setting process priority=high |

It has nothing to do with the computer and or net. I have the same problem. the fact games work well. Internet runs right. You can hear them perfectly clear. Its just when you try talking the ping shoots out the roof. Its only been happening for about a week now. With updated drivers/defrag/error check/reinstalled vent. It has been happening to alot of people the last while. So it would be nice if they fixed it.

Bump.
I've made sure all my drivers are up to date. My upload speed is perfectly fine. All my window's updates are installed. I have zero P2P programs on my computer. The setting "Process Priority" makes no difference when its on High or Normal. I have done just about everything short of formatting my PC, which I'm going to try soon if this doesn't get fixed. Please help us! |

other things to check:
what's your upload bandwidth - www.speedtest.net the problem may be along the netpath to the server. perform a traceroute to the server and post the results start/run/cmd tracert servername or ipaddress in vent setup/voice-binds-speech tabs, set input/output devices to the sound device name. (as opposed to 'default') and try setting 'use directsound' make sure DirectX is up to date (start/run/dxdiag) in network properties, disable all unused lan cards. if running wireless, try temp connecting to the router using an ethernet cable. i don't like suggesting this but as a test, in dxdiag select the soundcard input tab and set 'hardware acceleration' down 1 notch. |

I'll bump cuz I got the exact same problem. My ping goes up the hill and I get kicked after some time. But if I don't try and talk, it works just fine.
And I have tried everything that has been suggested in this thread. |
