Default Sound isn't playing correctly

Good afternoon everyone! i've been trying to figure this out forever and its still not working. I've got a Mac mini (mid 2010) as my wonderful computer, current mac client 3.0.13. I'm using my Razer Chimaera wireless headset for my mic and audio. When I plug in both of the 3.5mm jacks to my computer, whenever i talk to plays whatever is playing on my computer (i.e. if other people are talking, game sound, music etc) even though its all playing through my headphones and not my speakers. i've tried to use an external sound card such as the creative sound blaster omni 5.1 to see if it was just something wrong with the audio jacks on my computer but no dice it still has the same issues. Can anyone possibly help me?!

in vent setup, is the 'sound input' device set correctly and the 'line input' slider set around midway?

is the outbound amplifier set to 0 ?

in th binds tab, is the output device set correctly?

in the global tab, try enabling the 'wireless headset tweak'

in the mac sound properties for input, is there any settings other than 'ambient noise reduction'

Read my post in this thread

http://forum.ventrilo.com/showthread.php?t=1138329&highlight=line+level

here's the bottom line

--------
If your Mac has an audio input port (or the dual purpose port per above), it's is a Line-In port, *not* a mic in port.

The audio input on the Mac requires a microphone that has it's own power source i.e. a Powered Microphone to operate properly.

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1596

Here's what you may need to make the Mic work

https://store.griffintechnology.com/imic

or an iRig

However, I would suggest picking up a USB headset instead.
--------

Does your headset provide powered Mic output or line level output?

have you tried disabling all mic devices except the mic jack you're using?

what model mac and version of OS are you using?

To re-iterate, you CANNOT plug the 3.5MM jack into your Mac 'mic input' and have it work. It's not a mic input, it's a line level input.

The Line OUT will work for standard headphones / headsets.

The Line IN is a line-level input and will NOT work for headsets with Mics. You have to have a powered Mic as that input does not supply any amplification.

You need to get either

a) A USB headset

b) get a Griffin iMic which will take both of the 3.5MM jacks and convert them to USB.

Default Sound isnt playing correctly

Is your sound effects level particularly low, or even at 0? If so, try turning it up just to 5 and see if the crackle stops.

Hello agent_smith88,

have you tried the simple task that is, disabling the existed sound drivers on your computer and install the new Audio drivers? with my own experience, I am saying Download the updated sound drivers for your OS.

Any success with this problem? I am finding it increasingly irritating - the sound level of the effects gradually gets louder and louder, and no amount of resetting will turn them off
