Hi guys, my mate was having this problem and with a combination of research etc we found out what caused it and how to fix it.
I'm not saying this is a guarenteed fix for all instances of this problem but bear with me and i'll tell you all i've learnt in the last hour which did fix the problem my mate had! Our Fix: Go to the path below on your operating system installed harddrive: C:\Documents and Settings\ Can you see a folder called Application Data? If no, then go to the menubar - Tools.... Folder options; and then the View tab. In the dialog box, find the item "Hidden Files and Folders", expand it and click the circle - "show hidden files and folders". Make sure you click Apply and Ok to exit. You may want to navigate to the following folder path to make sure your ventrilo is alert to the path being unhidden again!: C:\Documents and Settings\ This should now have fixed the problem (and it will mean you had the same problem as my friend. What i write below is purely theory based on what i've learnt. If yes, navigate to it and further to the following path: C:\Documents and Settings\ Look for ventrilo.ini or ventrilo2.ini If they exist, right click properties and make sure they're NOT read only. If they are, change this and it should fix the problem. If not, try replacing the .ini file with one from a friend who has a working copy of ventrilo. If they don't exist... there in by lies the probably problem and either a reinstall or getting a friend to send you their .ini file could fix the problem. *Please note that when sharing a .ini file with a friend, you are also giving them access details to all your vent servers. |
