what model mac are you using?

this problem sounds like an audio setting that's enabled for an option like 'stereo mix' or 'what-you-hear'

in vent setup, is the 'sound input' device set...

in vent setup, is the 'sound input' device set correctly and the 'line input' slider set around midway?

is the outbound amplifier set to 0 ?

in th binds tab, is the output device set correctly?...
