what version of windows and vent are you running? are they 32 or 64 bit have you setup vent as described here: http://forum.ventrilo.com/showthread.php?t=43879 are your drivers up to date: Check the Audio driver to make sure it is up to date. Or try re-installing the current driver. (note: some USB Headsets do not require a driver) (Don’t assume the driver is up to date as a newer one may have been released since the computer was built) - If you have a brand-name PC, like Dell or HP, then check the manufacturers website for driver updates. - If you built the PC and use the on-board sound device then check the motherboard manufacturers website for drivers for your model motherboard. - If you use a plug-in soundcard, ex: SoundBlaster, then check that manufacturers website for drivers. Also check for BIOS and chipset updates When checking for BIOS, chipset and certain onboard hardware drivers, you should only check the pc (or specific motherboard) manufacturers website for your make/model. The manufacturer is responsible for maintaining the proper version of driver for their specific hardware. For example: Realtek is an OEM manufacturer of audio chips and there are many different revisions of each. The latest driver found on the Realtek site may not be compatible with the version of chip in your pc, and could cause problems like 'stereo mix' to not be available. Realtek comments to this effect on their download page. can you post the output from dxdiag plz Start > Run Dxdiag Click the 'Save All' button File is saved to the desktop as "DxDiag.txt" Copy/paste the information to the forum. @Prog-Rocker
First of all thanks for your time and sorry for the late response, I was on vacation. My vent has the same setup as described As far as i know are my drivers up to date (got a build pc - 1year old) i havnt checked the BIOS yet. I did the Dxdiag thing but i'm not sure if this is what you need.. I use windows 7 and i cant find the Run thing , so i just typed dxdiag in the search window and i got it, atleast i think so. Because the file was that big and would've took 4-5 posts, i tryed to upload it online. I hope the link works for you, if not, tell me and 'll copy-paste it just like you said. Another Robotic voice :)
So when I downloaded ventrilo, my voice was fine and everything. Actually I've had ventrilo quite a few times on my pc. But maybe a week or so ago it started up. I was told I had a robotic voice and it was very very staticy. Bought a new mic, same thing. Voice sounds normal in Skype. Did a google search found this. Tried to do what Faqs suggested, but I'm really unsure as to what sound driver I have. Did a dxdig run and this is what I came up;
Main Driver: nvd3um.dll Version:8.17.0012.8026 (english) I am not at all computer savvy and was wondering if someone could possibly help me out with this situation. I'm assuming its my sound driver and not graphics (thought I do run ventrilo along-side with gaming, but as I said it didn't do this till recently.) I'm also guessing my sound driver is Nvidia (ugh) since nvd=nvidia? I'd appreciate any and ALL help I could get, as I'm trying to figure this out. Also my OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. Thanks! |
@ missakitten
could you post all the text from dxdiag up to 'directplay codecs' plz |
Fix to most background noises on ventrillo
Hello, I am here to try and help with alot of peoples problems with having background noises when using ventrillo (crackling, popping, loud airplane type sounds, etc)
Ok this is for windows 7: right click sound on the bottom right corner and click playback devices (or start > control panel > hardware and sound > change system sound > recording) double click microphone go to levels than lower "Microphone Boost" and raise "Microphone" and that should world. reason this happens is when you originally get the computer the boost is already set to 0 but everytime you update your sound driver it will go to 100 which does not work well with ventrillo depending on the driver, os, etc... HOPE THIS HELPS =) |

Ventrilo audo problem
Hello,
I have a problem with my ventrilo client regarding Sound + Microphone. I cannot hear people clearly, and they can only hear me as "static and robotic" without hearing me clearly as well. I used skype with no problems, mumble and team speak are OK as well, no problems there. I tried making my volume higher, or increasing the microphone volume, which only resulted in the static and robotic sound to increase.
