Not able to connect
How come I am unable to connect to server. It is Speex codec. Internent is working fine and i can conect any other vent server. What should i do....any advice?
|
Likely a temporary Internet problem that will resolve itself.
What's the server's IP address and port? |
these are it
hostname or IP: 66.29.0.0
port: 3847 |
There appears to be something running on that port, so I'd report to your ISP that you're unable to connect to that address.

You most likely have the wrong port. Ask the server admin to confirm it.
|
I had him confirm...everything is corect? Could it possibly be something related to firewall and what would i need to do to fix it?
|
You're sure about that port number? You're sure it's not 3784?
Whichever is correct, ensure you don't have any firewall rules restricting traffic on that port. |
im sure its not....... could it psibaly be the platformis Linux????
|
Just to confirm, go to /Applications/Utilities/Terminal
and type: telnet 66.29.0.0 3847 and paste the output here. Here's an example from my machine: Code:
anagram:~ wade$ telnet 66.29.0.0 3847 |

Welcome to Darwin! jojo-knauers-computer:~ Jojo$ telnet 66.29.0.0 3847 Trying 66.29.0.0... telnet: connect to address 66.29.0.0: Operation timed out telnet: Unable to connect to remote host jojo-knauers-computer:~ Jojo$ |
Ok, one more command:
traceroute 66.29.0.0 Post the output. |

What's happening here is whatever the device at 192.1681.1.1 is cannot figure out a route to get the packets to their end address.
So there's two possibilities: 1) Your router (which is what I'm assuming is at address 192.168.1.1) is not correctly configured to handle a subnet-zero network. Subnet-Zero networks are not that common, and while most routers today should be able to handle it, it's possible some cannot. 2) Your ISP has a routing problem to prevent it from reaching that network. One step you could take in troubleshooting is if the device is your own router, remove it and connect your computer directly to the cable modem or DSL modem. If that works, then you know the router is the problem. If that doesn't work, and Iif you own the router at 192.168.1.1, then contact the manufacturer for instructions on how to configure it to handle a subnet-zero network. If you don't own it and your ISP provided it, contact your ISP for help. |
