Ventrilo from my subdomain

Ok. I created a subdomain with my hosting service. Let me start out by saying that for this particular hosting service, domains are listed in the directory this way: (my root ftp directory - which also contains the cgi-bin) --> html folder. Subdomains similarly are folders in the root directory with their own html folders.

This is the point at which I am a little confused. Do I load my ventrilo server files into the html directory, or that subdomain's main directory.

As of right now, the files are in the subdmain's main directory:
root/ventrilo/ventrilo_srv

I can start the server via a secure shell connection, but I still haven't been able to connect using a ventrilo client.

This is probably one of those retarded moments on my part. I solved all of the "hard" problems getting this thing up and running. And now I'm bumbling around trying to get the path right...

your web hosting service may not allow programs like Ventrilo. you will need to contact them

I am pretty sure that they do.

Anyhoo, I can start the server just fine. I just can't connect to it via IP or address. That's why I think I have something not set up correctly.
