Mute speakers when pressing talk possible?
 

I have vent set up so when I press the control key it lets me speak.
But the problem is if someone talks while I have that held down I can cause echo for other users.

Is there a way so when I press the talk key that speakers can get muted from vent?

If this isn't in the software I would think its something that could easily be added to the next version.

I dont want to use headphones.

I'm not asking for everything to get muted. Just voice from other ventrilo users.

Muting system wide sound would be difficult, but not impossible. It would fraught with config problems especially when you have multiple sound devices.

However, muting the sound from inbound voice streams while you xmit is certainly within the relm of possibility. I'll add it to the todo list.

Hey any movement on this? I'd love it if there were a setting to mute the inbound stream while I had my mic active. Those of us who hate headsets would all love this, haven't found a way to do it -- if this has been addressed (saw the post was from 2005) can someone please let me know how to do this? I've tried all of the various options... close as I could figure was a way to toggle mute while I talk, but I have to push the button twice... once to toggle mute once to untoggle.

us the 'Bindings' editor (top of window) to create a PTT advanced key to xmit and also enable the following:

[FONT=Arial]Mute inbound streams[/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT]

[FONT=Arial]This option will force your local client to mute all inbound streams to you, and you only, when you are transmitting.[/FONT]

if you want to use the same key as the normal ptt key then change the normal key in the vent setup so that there isn't a conflict.
