opening channels
i recently got Ventrillo to use with Wow on my Mac i have the latest OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and it won't even connect even if the channel is available and states that i am ready to connect. it tries then times out and try to reconnect. not sure if the vent 3.0.13 is comparable with it but seeing as its the latest version it should be. anyone know ways to solve this issue?

sounds like the network connection to the server is getting blocked. have you checked into firewalls on the mac and/or router?
what does the vent window display before hitting connect? MSG: ??? |
it has MSG: server is available. Press Connect
and i have looked into my firewalls and there isn't any reason the part should be blocked. funny thing is if i get on my PC and use that for vent i have no issues. |
Thing is i sometimes can get it to fully connect and at one point i had it running for over 10 minutes no problem. other times it acts like it will connect then times out and starts the reconnect timer and other times i will connect in get 3 seconds then be kicked and try to reconnect. i know i am not banned from the server my guild is using and it is speex so thats not the issue.

Not sure if it was a total fix but i noticed my intego "firewall" was showing that vent was only getting the info it was needing for a little bit and seeing as that Firewall wasn't really needed in the first place i went ahead and uninstalled integers firewall using just the basic by apple and now vent seems to work just fine. i am thinking even tho i allowed vent through the firewall on everything including my intro that into just wasn't allowing that constant connection. currently it has connected just fine with no boot but it has only been a couple minutes so will leave it up and see if i run into the disconnect issue again. i will do an edit on this post when i know more and have more data to compare on it.

The Intego Firewall blocks a LOT of important network traffic. It even blocks Airplay so you can't use your AppleTV mirroring with it on. It's really unnecessary so disabling their software Firewall is fine.
