|
possible fix for sound goin out with P55 chipset
Still testing this but would like more feedback
1. Open Device Manager 2. go to sound, video and game controllers 3. right click realtek high definition audio 4. go to properties 5. go to properties tab 6. expand audio devices 7. click on retek high definition audio 8. go to properties 9. check do not map through this device i did this and have been running sound on games and vent for a bit now post feedback on if it works for anyone else please |
I am having this problem and neither method above worked for me. For the first method there simply is no mixer options anywhere when I open Realtek HD Audio Manager. As for the second method I got as far as.
4. go to properties After that I have three tabs. General, Drivers and Details. None of which I found anything remotely close to Audio Devices. Anyone have any suggestions. This as you can imagine is rather annoying. |

do you have the most up to date drivers i was running the one from the realtek website i am on my work computer now and see the same options you see now but that is not what i see when i downloaded the driver at home since i am at work i have no way to test downloading the driver here to install try updating then see if you get the properties tab |
I am fairly certain I have the most up to date driver. I tried to update the driver from the Device manager and then reinstalled the driver from the Realtek site from the link below. Still no tab. I am on Vista Home Premium, its a new desktop. It there a chance I'm not seeing the tab because of some administrator issue? Could you double check me with a link to the most up to date driver.

well thats the right driver
it could be an administrator issue i am running XP pro at home and at work and see both versions seeing as i am not an admin at work and i am at home this could definitly be the issue |
Found a forum that had a suggestion and I tired it SO FAR it has worked.

http://www.evga.com/FORUMS/tm.asp?m=100920804 I actually don't have the same interface as the picture but disabling the front panel jack detection worked by itself, so far. Edit: Turns out it worked for about an hour and a half before all sound failed again. Step up from 30 seconds. Edit: Its back to turning all sound off withing 30 seconds of Turning on WoW. No changes were made to any settings. Any help still would be very helpful. |
well my fix was apparently temporary because my sound is cutting out if anyone has more suggestions please share i have already tried both everything else in this thread
|
if you're running XP then give this a try
start / run dxdiag select sound tab set 'hardware accelleration' down 1 notch. exit reboot |
Removed the cable from Front Panel Audio to MB as suggested in the other thread, did not work for Vista Home Pro.
Found out that you can use vent and play WoW if you do not have "enable outgoing communications" selected. Granit you can only listen but its a small step up. Still looking for a fix for Vista Home Pro. |
Realtek put out a new driver today hopeing this fixed this issue i am downloading as i post this
|
No Change sound is still cutting out

Intel P55 Motherboard Cuts All Sound FIXED
Yeah. Anyway check in your BIOS to see if there is an option like NX, i think it has something to do with Dual core cpus, try disabling that. Also shouldnt this be in Windows Vista forum?

All -
from what i read in the link from the evga forum it looks like there are more problems with the audio than just vent, which could be a problem with the hardware or the driver (and the driver would be my first choice). vent interfaces solely with the driver. i also noticed that there are at least 3 different audio chips: VIA VT2020 (asus) Realtek ALC889A (gigabyte) Realtek ALC889 (msi) which version does your mobo have? |
I'm having the same issue. Recently purcahsed the evga p55 SLI and sound cuts out when ventrilo is open. I also replaced the mobo with a brand new one, same issue. Pretty ridiculous...hope there's a fix soon.
|
Got the same problem and was looking here for a cure. I got a P55 CD 53 MSi Mainboard and my sound keeps cutting out when I have vent/game/music running.
For a while it worked with just the music and the game. Had no gamesound and music with that. Now apparantly it is getting worse. I noticed that my sound device keeps changing to default in in-and output. |
I got my free upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 about a week ago now and the problem is gone. I was using Vista Home Premium 64bit.
I can use vent and WoW and play music and even play a dvd all at the same time and it won't cut out anymore. |
Same no sound issue
I recently built a new comp with the same mobo and wish that some one would let me know if this issue has been fixed and where to find such fix. I currently am running the latest drivers, bios and vent and have no sound at all any more. Real tek imo sucks compared to the integrated sound card and driver on my old dell laptop. PLEASE any help would be appreciated. Also I am running Win XP Pro 32 with EVGA P55 FTW, and i5-750 with no o/c.
|
i was running windows xp sp3 had the same problem lost sound on vent and in game then i recently upgraded to windows 7 and now the problem is gone.
|
Has anyone found a real solution to this problem yet?
it is very frustrating.... |
Alright.
Heres what worked for me. To fix this problem, you have to update your BIOS. Go here: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-022312.htm Find your motherboard model, click "Latest Bios" or "Update Bios" Find the latest update for your Bios (ex: BIOS Update [KGIBX10J.86A]) Download the EB.EXE version (last on list) and download it to your desktop, run it (If it didnt work off your desktop, download it again, and just run it without saving) After your BIOS has been updated, you should no longer see this problem. |
