problem with networking

hi every one.
i have been trying to create a Lan connection with my two systems just cant figure out what to start.

i have 3 laptops, i have a internet connection but can i connect to the other laptops without using a internet connection.

yes, just install the vent server on one of the laptops and then config the clients to use the ipaddress of that laptop.
