how do i change my port #

i can not port forward through the tcp 3784 and i would like to know how to change my port number so i can allow my friends to get on ventrilo not to sure why i cant get throught that port but i did the port forwarding and it still say ( unable to bind tcp socket ) can some one please help me

you can't change the port in the free version.

that error message usually means the vent server is already running (check taskmanager for ventrilo_srv.exe or ventrilo_svc.exe)

or another program already has port 3784 open

btw - i meant to say 'check taskmanager/processes tab' for any instance of ventrilo_???.exe

window xp i have use the test to see if my server is running and it says it is but it still wont let any one else on they have all the info right they have checked the info over and over oh and i checked the task and there is only the one ventrilo running

if you reboot the pc (and before running vent server) do you see any ventrilo_???.exe in taskmanager/processes tab

have you tried completely disabling all firewall/virus apps?

disable all un-used lan cards on the pc.

does the ipaddress of the pc match the portforwarding ipaddress on the router?

post a pic of the routers portforward screen

i restarted my computer and yes there was two ventrilo-srv.exe there so i closed one out just waiting for someone to try to get on to it i will write back if it doenst work thanks Chris


they still are not able to get on but i check the status and it say the server is up and goin and i gave the the same hostnae as the one i tested and still it wont let them on

I am trying 2 create my own server or channel.I have read so many help instructions and i still dont get it lol.I have placed my Ip 4 host name allready and i dont no my port number.Any tip's on how 2 get it or wat im doing rong ?
